Today’s project is a hybrid-type holster for my Kel-Tec P-11. The P-11 is a very small, light-weight polymer and steel pistol that is double-action only and with optional mags, can hold 12+1 rounds of 9mm.
Here are today’s supplies:
In the photo is a sheet of leather, a sheet of kydex and a large sheet of foam for the backer. Also pictured is the new pair of craft scissors. The first step was to heat up the kydex with the heat gun and form it to the P11.

Next, I trimmed it on the scroll saw.
The rough version:
The final version after sanding with the dremel:
Next, I used the drill press to drill 6 holes for the rivets:
Next, I laid the kydex shell over the leather and traced out my design:
I then cut out the leather and a matching piece of foam and glued the two together with spray adhesive.
I marked the holes in the leather for the rivets and used the rotary punch and drill press to make holes for the rivets. The punch has a very short reach, so I had to use the drill press to drill three of the holes. Next, I attached the rivets with the included setting tool:
I then cut out two strips of thicker kydex to use as clips.
After sanding and drilling holes for the Chicago screws:
Next, I punched out holes in the holster for the clips. I was able to make five holes on one side and four on the other:
Finally, I molded the clips with the heat gun and attached them to the holster:

Some photos of me trying it out:

To more securely keep the holster in place, I would put the holster on before the belt, so the belt would cover the holster clips and help keep it in place. Also, for this project, I switched from adhesive backed foam to non-adhesive foam to save a little money. The sheet of non-adhesive foam is twice the size of the adhesive backed one. I think for the next project I will go back to the adhesive backed foam. Spray adhesive is messy and doesn’t stick as well as the built-in adhesive on the back of the foam. Stay tuned!
